Prototype Pod Moves Outdoors: First Garden Build Update & Major Progress!

The big moment has finally arrived – our first full-size SnapPod prototype is now being built outdoors in the back garden for the very first time!

After weeks of careful preparation in the workshop, we’ve taken the plunge and moved the build outside. It’s been a proper battle with the British spring weather over the last two weeks (dodging rain, wind and cold snaps), but we’re thrilled to say the pod is up and everything is coming together really well.

What We’ve Achieved So Far

  • The main curved structure is fully erected and stable in the garden.
  • The weatherproofing liner is now installed over the entire roof.
  • The fake grass roof is on, giving the pod that signature lush, natural burrow appearance.
  • As of today, we’ve installed the new wooden trim around the rear end of the pod. You can see it securely clamped in place in the photo below while the adhesive sets.

Early next week we’ll receive the glazing for the door and windows. We’re pushing hard to complete the interior fit-out by the end of next week, which will bring us very close to having the first complete prototype ready for real-world testing.

This outdoor build has been an important milestone. Seeing the pod take shape in an actual garden environment is incredibly exciting and is already giving us valuable real-world feedback on how it performs outside the workshop.
