Snap Pod Secures a Workshop in the UK: What’s Next for the Project?

Snap Pod Is Coming Home (and Getting a Workshop)

After nearly a year on the road exploring Southeast Asia, I’m just days away from landing back in the UK — and things are about to get a lot more hands-on. The big news? Snap Pod now has a workshop space secured in Leicestershire, and I couldn’t be more excited.

It’s a solid unit — clean, spacious, and ready to be transformed into the birthplace of our first modular pod prototypes. It’s not glamorous just yet, but give me a month and a few power tools and it’ll be a hive of activity.

The July Game Plan: Tools, Tests & Tinkering

July is going to be full throttle. With a month back in the UK before we look at land again in Asia, I’m going to be diving into all the practical stuff:

  • Ordering essential tools – band saw, table saw, work benches, clamps, hand tools… you name it. Basically everything I’ll need to build the Snap Pod modular system from scratch.
  • Testing out new ideas – I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve for joinery methods, wall panel samples, and the glulam beam production we’ve been planning for months.
  • Getting material samples in – I want to get my hands on different finishes, insulation types, and modular fixings to narrow down what works best for the pod builds.
  • Finalising the designs – The core pod layout is nearly there, but July will be about locking it all in and preparing visuals for our first build.
  • Sorting out the admin – I’ll be tackling the back end of the business, like accounts, legal bits, and tightening up the social media and marketing side of things (which, if you’ve been following our new Pinterest and blog posts, is already off to a good start).

Looking Ahead

This next phase is about building momentum. We’ve got a vision, a workshop, a bunch of ideas tested on the road — and now it’s time to get cracking with actual tools and materials.

The dream is still the same: a beautiful, modular glamping pod system that’s easy to build, live in, and love — whether that’s tucked into a forest in Krabi or pitched up in a quiet corner of the UK.

I’ll keep posting updates each week as things move along, including early prototype tests, tool setups, and whatever hiccups I hit along the way. Thanks for following along — and if you’ve got suggestions for workshop essentials, drop me a message!
